Acupuncture is a form of medicine that has been practiced for thousands of years. It involves the use of needles that are inserted at certain points to help your body overcome illness, relieve pain and resist disease. When these symptoms appear, disharmony occurs which affects the imbalance of your mind, body and spirit. Many factors can cause an imbalance to your health leading to disturbance of the natural flow of energy this disturbance is the cause of many common illnesses and diseases.

Chinese Medicine considers such things as:

  • External pathogens-cold/flu
  • Diet
  • Emotional issues
  • Physical exercise

Specific points are chosen, for improvement of the body’s energy, harmonizing blockages and nourishing blood and increasing circulation.

Cupping

During Cupping Therapy a mild vacuum is created inside glass 'cups', which are then placed on the skin. The vacuum effect of the cups creates suction that softens tissues and increases the circulation. By stimulating the skin and underlying muscles, it helps release area-specific toxins that have accumulated and encourages circulation of both blood and lymph vessels.
Cupping therapy has been further developed as a means to open the 'Meridians' of the body. Meridians are the conduits in the body through which energy flows to every part of the body and through every organ and tissue.

Moxibustion

Moxibustion is an ancient technique of warming the acupuncture needle with the herb mugwort. The smouldering herb is placed on the end of needle, creating warmth that transfers down the needle that penetrate to the deepest levels of muscle tissue, which helps relax the muscles.
Different types of moxibustion can be used for specific points such as: Moxa sticks, Japanese cone moxa and punk moxa or (loose moxa). Moxibustion can be used for warming the body or reducing inflammation and stimulating the body’s healing response.
